This blog is part of Series : Comprehensive SharePoint 2013 Development Environment Installation and Configuration
Overview
By default after initial SharePoint installation and Farm Configuration SharePoint will simply allocate the default services across all servers in the Farm. But based on any generic farm, we want to allocate the services based on the expected role the server needs to play. This section covers the default services baseline soon after the initial install and farm configuration.
Current Services State
At this stage by Farm Role Design we want the services to be configured as below:
Server | Role |
SP2013WFE | Web Applications |
SP2013APP1 | Central Administration All Service Applications except the Search |
SP2013APP2 | Dedicated Search Service Application |
In addition let's take look at if there are any issues in the farm at this stage:
Go to Monitoring>Health Analyzer>Review problems and solutions
This tells me that we will need Distributed Cache service on all servers
Based on the above guideline I will be stopping and starting the services from the CA>Systems Settings>Services on Server to arrive at baseline as below:
Baseline Services
Timer should be running on all servers
Give it a shot one more time to the Health Analyzer and you will find that there are none at this time.
